Dr. Kevin Miller obtained his doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK. His doctoral research focused on investigating the role of psychological mindedness in addiction treatment, and outcome monitoring for addiction intervention. After working for several years as a Chartered Psychologist in the UK National Health Service he moved to Canada. Here he has worked as a Registered Psychologist in both Adult Mental Health, and Youth Addiction settings.
Dr. Miller is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of BC, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (UK), a member of the BC Psychological Association, and a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with the SE Trauma Institute Colorado.
He has experience working with youth, adults, couples and groups dealing with a wide range of emotional, behavioural, cognitive and social issues. His special interest is working with trauma and its effects including emotional dysregulation, addiction, relationship conflict, family dysfunction and chronic pain.
He has a passion for drawing from various therapeutic approaches to best meet the needs of the client, including cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, humanistic, somatic, mindfulness and family systems. He is the founder of Mind-Body Attunement Therapy © which integrates these modalities and most effectively addresses the unconsciously held dysfunctions from trauma histories leading to neurological and functional healing; and has taught this method to numerous professionals and university students.
Dr. Miller is registered to practice as a psychologist in the Province of British Columbia (#1780).
