Dr. Goranson completed her Ph.D. studies in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology at the University of Victoria and her internship year at the London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital in London, Ontario in 2000. Prior to moving into private practise, she worked at the military hospital at CFB Esquimalt providing both psycho-diagnostic and psycho-therapeutic services. At the present time, Dr. Goranson considers herself to be a generalist who consults to various agencies and law firms, to Veteran’s Affairs Canada, to ICBC, and to Work Safe BC providing expert opinions regarding the psychological and neuropsychological profiles of adults with various neurological and emotional health conditions, including seniors with dementia. Treating individuals who suffer from posttraumatic stress in the aftermath of military trauma, police trauma, and motor vehicle accident trauma is a particular area of interest.
In 2005, Dr. Goranson was instrumental in developing the PTSD+Plus program which is an outpatient psychotherapy program for those who suffer from occupational stress injuries. At the present time, she continues to co-facilitate this program at the clinic. Dr. Goranson's approach is to address mental health issues from a "whole person" perspective including the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of an individual. She is committed to bringing people to health and wholeness using Cognitive Behavioural therapeutic approaches.Dr. Goranson is registered to practice in the Province of British Columbia (#01556).
