Dr. Katherine McAuley
Katherine completed her PhD in Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology at the University of Guelph (Ontario) and her doctoral internship at the CPA accredited South Island Residency Program through Child & Youth Mental Health (Victoria, BC). Katherine has provided assessment and treatment to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families across various clinical settings including school boards, private practice, and outpatient community mental health. Katherine has experience providing assessment and/or treatment for various anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, disordered eating, non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal ideation, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, intellectual disabilities and learning disorders.
Katherine’s primary clinical orientation is both integrative and collaborative. She takes great care in assessing and understanding her client’s needs to determine which therapeutic approach may be the best fit, in consultation with each client’s perspective about their own needs and strengths. She has training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, play therapy, mindfulness, and attachment focused approaches. Katherine aims to provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space to all those seeking support while incorporating warmth, empathy, and humour into her work.
Katherine is currently in the process of registering with the College of Health and Care professionals of BC. Until then, her work is supervised by a registered psychologist.
