Aamena Kapasi has a doctorate in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alberta. She completed her residency at the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax, where she enjoyed rotations in neuropsychology, preschool autism, community mental health, and inpatient psychiatry. She has worked in hospitals, private practices, schools, and community clinic settings offering therapy and assessment services to children and adolescents with anxiety conditions, mood disorders, behavioural challenges, disordered eating, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, learning disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions. Her primary area of research is in interventions and supports for individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Aamena uses an integrated approach to therapy, weaving multiple approaches together to best support her clients. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic areas, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, ACT, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. Aamena conducts both assessments and interventions with children, youth, and families. Aamena is registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2751) and she is also registered as a psychologist in the province of Alberta.
