Aamena Kapasi has a doctorate in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alberta. She completed her residency at the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax. Her primary area of research is in interventions and supports for individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She has worked in hospitals, private practices, schools, and community clinics offering therapy and assessment services to children, youth, young adults, and their families. Aamena enjoys working with people who experience anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, emotion dysregulation, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and learning disorders. Aamena also works with the Early Psychosis Intervention team in Victoria, and she has expertise in assessment and treatment of psychosis. Aamena uses an integrated approach to therapy, weaving multiple approaches together to best support her clients. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic areas, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, ACT, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. At VIPS, Aamena conducts assessments and interventions with children, youth, and young adults. Aamena is registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2751).
