Dr. Kim Keinath

Psychologist

Dr. Kim Keinath is a mental health professional with over 35 years of experience providing a range of clinical services from evaluations/consultations to psychotherapy.

Dr. Keinath considers it a privilege to help people who are dealing with mental health concerns. She works collaboratively with patients offering an integrated approach tailored to the unique goals, interests, and needs of the individual. Her primary theoretical orientation is psychodynamic which affirms both conscious and unconscious dimensions of experience, deep understanding of relationship patterns, and developing insight into one’s personality traits and defenses. Empirically based therapy can help people identify and alter old patterns and pave the way to making different choices in life. Dr. Keinath offers both short-term and longer-term psychotherapy, recognizing that while psychological problems take time to resolve, some people prefer a more time-limited, practical approach. While she has experience with people across the life span, she currently works with adults. Her interpersonal style is respectful, empathic, honest, and occasionally humorous.

Dr. Keinath completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Tennessee in 1994 and an MSc in Clinical Psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1986.

She completed a clinical internship at Vanderbilt-Veteran’s Administration Psychology Consortium in Nashville, Tennessee and a post-doctoral year in community mental health at Cherokee Health Systems in east Tennessee. She has worked as a licensed Health Service Provider in both public and private sectors in Tennessee before relocating to British Columbia in 2022.

Dr. Keinath is licensed by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia to practice as a Psychologist.
